I’m so excited to share the very first pattern in my gamer-inspired C2C (corner-to-corner) crochet blanket series.

I am kicking things off with the one and only Pac-Man! This square is full of retro charm and pixel-perfect vibes. You can use this free C2C pattern to make a full blanket, a pillow, or even a wall hanging. No matter what you use it for, it’s sure to bring back some great memories.
I’ll be releasing more patterns in the near future. Along with this Pac Man crochet pattern, you will find favorites like Frogger, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Zelda, and more. Be sure to follow along so you don’t miss out on any of the patterns. Check back on my website regularly to find the newest pattern releases.
Why I Chose Retro Gaming
I am old, that’s why! Hahaha!!! No, but really, retro games have always held a special place in my heart. I remember spending hours at arcades when I was growing up. A favorite arcade in my area was Fair Play Pizza. It was awesome! There were countless video games, skee ball, kiddie rides, pool tables, food, and “The Electric Mice Orchestra.”
There's something magical about the simplicity of 8-bit worlds and the joy they brought us in arcades and on early consoles. I grew up mesmerized by pixelated heroes and quirky soundtracks, and those memories now inspire a lot of my creative work.
With this free C2C blanket project, I wanted to celebrate the icons of that era. I hope you enjoy how I have created these squares and combined them to create a retro piece of home decor.

What is C2C Crochet
If you haven’t tried corner-to-corner crochet yet, you must give it a try. I love it. It is such a fun technique! Once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy to understand. You start in one corner and work diagonally across your project building little blocks. These blocks are similar to the pixels in a video game.
Each square in this series was designed to bring back memories of the days gone by. The 8-bit art of these old games are perfect for turning yarn into cozy creations.
A Quick How-To on C2C
I promise, you don’t need to be a crochet wizard to get the hang of C2C. The only crochet stitches you need to know are chain, double crochet, and slip stitch. Here’s how it works:
• You begin in the bottom-right corner (if you are right-handed) and crochet diagonally toward the top-left.
• Each “pixel” is a block of stitches made up of chains and double crochets.
• You’ll increase one block per row until the square reaches its widest point, then decrease until it closes.
• Once your project is stitched, weave in all the yarn tails with a darning needle. For me, dealing with the yarn ends is the worst part.
• For color changes, I recommend using bobbins or separate yarn strands to keep things tidy.
It can feel a bit strange at first. But once the image starts coming together, you are going to love it.
Here is an amazing video tutorial from Lovable Loops that makes C2C easy to learn.
Pac-Man: The Icon Who Started It All
There was no doubt in my mind that Pac-Man would be the first free C2C square pattern in this series. He’s one of the most iconic video game characters in history.
This Pac-Man crochet pattern captures him mid-chomp, just like we remember him. There is also a single Pac-Dot waiting to be eaten.

Pac-Man C2C Blanket Square Crochet Pattern Notes
This free crochet Pac-Man pattern is worked using the Corner to Corner (C2C) technique. I have included a printable graph along with written instructions.
• Difficulty: Beginner
• Gauge: I am a very tight crocheter. Luckily, the gauge is not very important for this free Pac-Man crochet pattern. My C2C square ended up being about 6x6 blocks per 4 inches. I think most crocheters get 5x5 blocks per 4 inches.
• Dimensions: Please see gauge notes. My Pac-Man C2C square measured approximately 17"x17".

Finishing the Pac Man Crochet Blanket Square
To finish the crochet Pac Man blanket square, I added a simple single crochet border. It gave the edges a neat, clean look and helped the square hold its shape. After that, I weaved in all the yarn tails.
More Than Just a C2C Crochet Blanket Square
While I designed this Pac Man crochet square as part of a larger blanket design, it’s super versatile. You can easily turn it into:
• A pillow
• A wall hanging
• A framed piece

Learn How to Crochet
Do you want to make this adorable pillow cover, but do not know how to crochet? Do what I did, I learned how to crochet using a beginner-friendly crochet kit from the Woobles. Once you learn how, you can complete this free C2C pattern and show it off to all your friends.
If you are new to crocheting, these beginner kits teach you how to hold your crochet hook and yarn. You will also learn how to read crochet patterns. Simply follow along with the step-by-step video tutorials and before you know it, you will have created your first amigurumi figure.
I learned with their Penguin Crochet Kit. I looked at it for so long. Each time, I tried to talk myself out of it. I can’t do it. There’s no way I will learn how to crochet from a kit. Blah Blah Blah. If you are negative, like me, you understand.
Do not wait. I was seriously able to sit down and learn how to crochet using this amazing kit. It teaches you everything from holding the yarn, how to hold a crochet hook, and reading crochet patterns. Included with the kit is a link to the most helpful how-to crochet videos I have ever seen.
