The Christmas Story

The Christmas story in the Bible is found in the New Testament, primarily in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. It tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, who is considered by Christians to be the Son of God and the Savior of humanity.

In the Gospel of Luke, it starts with the angel Gabriel appearing to a young woman named Mary in the town of Nazareth. Gabriel tells Mary that she will conceive a child by the Holy Spirit and give birth to a son named Jesus, who will be the Son of the Most High.

Mary is betrothed to a man named Joseph, and they travel to Bethlehem because of a census ordered by the Roman emperor. While they are in Bethlehem, Mary gives birth to Jesus in a stable because there is no room at the inn. She wraps him in swaddling clothes and lays him in a manger.

In the same region, there are shepherds in the fields, and an angel appears to them, announcing the birth of Jesus and telling them to find the baby in the manger. A multitude of angels then praises God, saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased."

In the Gospel of Matthew, wise men from the East, often referred to as the Magi or the Three Kings, follow a star that leads them to Bethlehem. They bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honor the newborn King.

The Christmas story in the Bible is a central narrative in the Christian faith and is celebrated as the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th in many Christian traditions. It is a time of joy, reflection, and celebration for Christians around the world.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
