What is Futurama?
Futurama is an animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening. The same mind behind The Simpsons. Futurama, an adult cartoon, originally aired from 1999 to 2003 on Fox and was later revived and continued on Comedy Central from 2010 to 2013. In 2023, HULU once again revived the series.
Set in the distant future, Futurama follows the adventures of Philip J. Fry. Fry is a slacker and pizza delivery boy who was cryogenically frozen and wakes up 1,000 years later. He finds himself in a bustling and bizarre world filled with various alien species, robots, and futuristic technology.
Fry joins the Planet Express delivery company, which is run by the eccentric Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth. The crew includes Leela, a one-eyed mutant who is the ship's captain, and Bender, a heavy-drinking, cigar-smoking robot. Together, they embark on intergalactic deliveries and get into all sorts of comedic and often satirical misadventures.
Futurama is known for its clever humor, sharp social commentary, and an array of memorable characters. The show has gained a dedicated cult following and remains beloved by its fans.
